1st and 2nd class have been very busy with their teacher Miss Buckley, from science experiments to singing and creating new songs, 1st and 2nd class have learned a lot so far this year.

We learned how to write recipes in English writing lessons and all about weight in Maths which helped us make some tasty healthy bread in school. We measured the ingredients, examined what happened when we completed each step and wrote out the recipe in our copies.

In PE, we have had a dance and gymnastic teacher show us how to dance, jump and roll and a GAA coach play lots of games with us. During our own PE lessons, we have explored a wide variety of activities, from Orienteering (reading maps and finding clues) to games like Crab Soccer in the Halla.

We love learning through games, like when we played a snakes and ladders game all about Road Safety or when we play number games in Maths or even when we have Walking Debates. This is when we stand to the left, right or middle of the room depending on if we agree, disagree or are unsure about a statement the teacher makes.

We have learned a lot of Irish since September, chatting about Éadaí (Clothes), Caitheamh Aimsire (Past times), Bia (Food) and Sa Bhaile (In the Home). Irish songs and poems help us learn about these topics and working with a partner to play different games in the language.

There is a lot of Artwork done in our class, from pointillism (using dots to make an image) and fruit printing to weaving with paper to make Danish hearts and picnic blankets. These help us explore colour and shape and express ourselves creatively through our work.
